Visiting Residents

Henry Ford Warren Hospital welcomes and offer residents seeking electives to rotate for 4-week rotations. Residents are required to complete a rotation request form a minimum of 8-weeks prior to the desired rotation date. Please download and complete the rotation request form and return to Graduate Medical Education for processing

Interviews

Henry Ford Warren Hospital interviews are scheduled by invitation only and are arranged through the program by the program director after review of all applicant credentials.

National Resident Matching Program

For residency program consideration interested applicants should register in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). The NRMP uses computers to match students and hospitals according to the students preferences. For additional information about NRMP, contact:

Note: Depending on your desired program you are applying, some specialties use the SF Match program, ERAS, or CASPR to match students and hospitals. For information on a specific program please contract the program.

Appointments

Henry Ford Warren Hospital provides one year residency appointments which begins the last week of June each year. Annual renews are contingent upon residents satisfactory performance, upon successful completion of training requirements outlined by the specific American Board, Henry Ford Warren Hospital renew resident appointments.

Those entering PGY1 in all programs are required to obtain AHA ACLS and BLS certification prior to assuming duties July 01 of the academic year. Henry Ford Warren Hospital offers ACLS certification free of charge, however you must obtain your BLS certification in order to take the ACLS course.

Flu Shots

Henry Ford Warren Hospital associates work in clinical and non-clinical positions and are required an annual flu vaccination. This applies to all residents, fellows, students, volunteers, observers, housekeepers, clerical, lab, dietary staff and associates. Associates may only decline vaccination if they provide supporting documentation of an acceptable medical or religious reason

Licensure

All residents and fellows are required to obtain an educational license to practice medicine by the State of Michigan. All residents must obtain licensure by July 01 of the academic year. Henry Ford Warren Hospital Graduate Medical Education will provide residents and fellows with the appropriate application. HFW will reimburse residents and fellows for the cost of the licensing. Educational License are renewable up to five times.

Visa Policy

As of August 05, 2022, Henry Ford Warren Hospital accepts ECFMG sponsored J-1 Visas for residency/fellowship.
