Henry Ford Warren Hospital Residencies and Fellowships
Welcome to Henry Ford Warren Hospital's Graduate Medical Education department. We are an accredited teaching institution with over 20 training programs including ACGME, CODA, and DPM. We have approximately 240 residents and fellows and serve as a base hospital for 100 students from Michigan State University, Kansas City University (KCUMB), and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.
We offer career placement opportunities at more than 131 Henry Ford locations; encompassing 1,900 sites of care in 23 states and the District of Columbia.
Requirements
Visiting Residents
Residents seeking to complete a rotation at Henry Ford Warren Hospital must submit their request no less than 8 weeks prior to the start of the rotation. The Program Director provides final approval of all requests. Please download the rotation request form and return it to Graduate Medical Education for processing.

Appointments
Henry Ford Warren Hospital provides one-year residency appointments. Orientation begins the last week of June each year. Annual renewals are contingent upon residents' satisfactory performance. Upon successful completion of training requirements outlined by the specific American Board, Henry Ford Warren Hospital renews resident appointments.
Those entering PGY1 in all programs are required to obtain AHA ACLS and BLS certification prior to assuming duties on July 1 of the academic year. Henry Ford Warren Hospital offers ACLS certification free of charge; however, you must obtain your BLS certification to take the ACLS course.
Flu Shots
Henry Ford Warren Hospital associates work in clinical and non-clinical positions and are required to receive an annual flu vaccination. This applies to all residents, fellows, students, volunteers, observers, housekeepers, clerical, lab, dietary staff, and associates. Associates may only decline vaccination if they provide supporting documentation of an acceptable medical or religious reason.
COVID
Effective November 13, 2021, Henry Ford Warren Hospital requires all associates, volunteers, visiting residents, and medical students to obtain their COVID vaccination. Associates may only decline vaccination if they provide supporting documentation of an acceptable medical or religious reason.
Visa Policy
As of August 5, 2022, Henry Ford Warren Hospital accepts ECFMG-sponsored J-1 Visas for residency/fellowship.
