Meet the Faculty

Rachel Nixon, DO

Program Director

Dr. Rachel Nixon is a board-certified family medicine physician. She completed her medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and residency at Ascension Macomb Oakland Hospital. Dr. Nixon is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, and the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Dr. Nixon holds academic appointments as the Associate Program Director for Ascension Macomb-Oakland Family Medicine Residency Program, DMU Student Didactics Instructor, and MSUCOM Student Didactics Instructor, as well as a Clinical Associate Professor for Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Nixon provides all patients with compassion and dedication, treating them as an extension of her family and believes in a holistic approach when treating patients. In addition to her love of patient care, Dr. Nixon is very passionate about resident and medical student education. Dr. Nixon is married and the proud mother of three great kids who keep her busy and on her toes! 

Jason Soffa, DO

Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician

Dr. Jason Soffa is a board-certified Family Medicine physician. He completed his medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and residency at St. John Oakland Hospital. Dr. Soffa is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He holds an academic appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at Michigan State University. Dr. Soffa focuses on disease prevention and empowering patients to optimize their health. He has a special interest in nutrition, along with prevention and treatment of diabetes.

Ryan Smith, DO

Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician

Dr. Ryan Smith is a board-certified Family Medicine physician. He completed his medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and residency at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital, where he also served as a Chief Resident. Dr. Smith is board-certified in Family Medicine and OMT through the American Board of Family Physicians (ABFM) and American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians (AOBFP). He focuses on disease management and aspects of the mind, body, and spirit to optimize patient health. Dr. Smith holds an academic appointment with Michigan State University COM as a Clinical Assistant Professor and also serves as a Director on the MAOFP Board of Directors. He has received the AOF/ACOFP Outstanding Resident of the Year Award, MAOFP Resident of the Year Award, and the STFM Resident Teacher Award.

Dayna Snyder, DO

Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician

Dr. Dayna Snyder is a board-certified Family Medicine physician. She completed her medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and residency at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital. Dr. Snyder is also certified in Obesity Medicine through the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She has a special interest in preventative medicine, obesity management, and chronic conditions. Dr. Snyder enjoys working with her patients to help them achieve their physical and mental health goals.

Saroj Misra, DO, FACOFP

Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine

Dr. Saroj Misra is a board-certified Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment physician. He has been in practice since 2001 and has served as academic faculty since that time. Dr. Misra specializes in women's health, hypertension, dyslipidemia, depression/anxiety, and osteopathic manipulative treatment for disease processes and chronic pain. Academically, Dr. Misra promotes an educational culture of ‘learning without fear’ and strives to ensure all learners are both heard and listened to. He graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed a residency at St. John Oakland Hospital, and a Primary Care Teaching Fellowship at Michigan State University-College of Human Medicine.

In 2018, Dr. Misra was named the Family Physician of the Year by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He oversees the residency training program for Henry Ford Warren Hospital and has been recognized multiple times for his teaching and training skills. Dr. Misra is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (where he serves as a Governor on the board), the Michigan Osteopathic Association, and the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians (which he served as President for in 2015).

Victoria Cohen, DO

Dr. Victoria Cohen is board-certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), providing comprehensive primary care services to individuals from young adults to seniors. She has a special interest in prevention, wellness, osteopathic manipulation treatment, musculoskeletal disease management, holistic care, dermatologic procedures, and joint injections. Dr. Cohen aims to collaborate with her patients on prevention strategies, advance care planning, and chronic disease management.

In her leisure time, she enjoys practicing meditation, breathwork, yoga, and Zumba, and she strives to incorporate these practices into her medical approach. Dr. Cohen completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and later obtained her Master of Public Health from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine with her osteopathic degree and is currently pursuing a certificate in Executive Healthcare Leadership from Cornell University.
