Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Faculty

The Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery faculty consists of its own internal program faculty as well as many private practitioners in the Detroit area. Each member contributes specific clinical expertise to enhance resident teaching.

Carlos A. Ramirez, MD, DDS, FACS

Program Director

Dr. Carlos Ramirez is a board-certified maxillofacial head & neck surgeon with specialized training in reconstructive surgery. He is among a handful of surgeons in Southeast Michigan trained to provide this advanced surgical option. Dr. Ramirez is on staff at Henry Ford Warren Hospital and Henry Ford St. John Hospital. Dr. Ramirez provides an additional spectrum of reconstruction for patients who may have been significantly disfigured by head and neck cancers, maxillofacial trauma, or soft/hard tissue defects requiring microvascular free or local pedicled flaps.

Dr. Ramirez earned his Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University and Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy. He completed residency training in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery at St. John Providence Hospital and specialized fellowship training in Microvascular Reconstruction, Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Ramirez has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and lectures nationally and internationally on reconstructive surgery.

William S. Bloom, DDS

Chairman, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery & Associate Program Director

Dr. Bloom is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His special interests include orthognathic surgery, implants, trauma, and oral pathology. Dr. Bloom graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and received his post-graduate training at Detroit-Macomb Hospital Corporation and Children’s Hospital of Michigan. He has been in private practice since 1978.

Dr. Bloom is Chair of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at Henry Ford Warren Hospital. He has held leadership roles in professional organizations, including the Michigan Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Great Lakes Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Michigan Cleft Palate Association. His professional affiliations include the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Dental Association.

Paul Bermudez, DMD, MD

Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery

Dr. Paul Bermudez is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon fellowship-trained in Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery. He provides instruction and expertise in Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery and clinical instruction in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Resident Clinic. Dr. Bermudez holds staff privileges at multiple Henry Ford facilities.

Jonattan Angulo, DDS

Dr. Jonattan Angulo is an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon with Henry Ford Medical Group. Dr. Angulo specializes in head and neck oncology, maxillofacial reconstruction, and jaw surgery. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Central University of Venezuela and completed a Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship in Detroit, Michigan.

Arshi Lehal, DDS, MD

Dr. Arshi Lehal is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a recent graduate of the Henry Ford Warren Hospital OMFS residency program. As part-time faculty, he is committed to resident education and clinical training.

Claude LeRose, DDS, MD

Dr. Claude LeRose is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a graduate of the Henry Ford Warren Hospital OMFS residency program. As part-time faculty, Dr. LeRose focuses on education, mentorship, and clinical training for residents.
