Henry Ford Hospital Cancer Tissue Biorepository

The Henry Ford Cancer Tissue Biorepository started procuring frozen prostate sections in February 1999. This was made possible by an NIH grant (PI: Dr. Zarbo). From 1999 to 2009, over 5,000 prostate biospecimens (n = 5,396) have been procured with 879 of these having matching frozen specimens (see Table). Frozen tissues are also being collected for other cancer types (see Table). The tissue type, availability, and date of procurement for each specimen can be obtained through the biomaterial tracking database. With appropriate IRB approval, investigators can obtain the patient medical record number linked to the tumor registry data and hospital information for data on lab results, patient history and treatment.
