Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency
First Year Positions: 3
Total Positions: 9
The Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency at Henry Ford St. John Hospital has been an approved residency since the 70's. Residents are selected on the basis of their previous achievements in medical school, letters of recommendation, college evaluations, test scores, GPA and a personal interview held annually during the CRIP weekend.
Graduates of the program receive a comprehensive general medical and surgical experience which includes experience in Anesthesiology, Behavioral Sciences, Emergency Medicine, Radiology, Family Medicine, General Surgery, Vascular, Rheumatology, Neurology, Pain Management, Infectious Disease, and Podiatry Office rotations.
Residents participate in monthly didactics and journal club, clinical case presentations, weekly lectures, workshops and radiology rounds. Residents will experience all foot and ankle reconstructive surgery including complicated rearfoot reconstruction, charcot and trauma experience. Residents in our program significantly exceed the number of surgical cases required to graduate. Our program offers great opportunities in research and publishing, and graduates are fully prepared for the Board Qualification Examinations.
An excellent opportunity for an Externship program of one month duration is available to senior students enrolled in an accredited College of Podiatric Medicine.
