Scholarly Activities
The Henry Ford St. John Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program emphasizes preparation and participation in scholarly activities. Residents are trained in various computer applications with strong support from our well-equipped Medical Library and Research Department of GME. These areas include searching and critical appraisal of the medical literature, evidence-based medicine and research skills.
FM Residents actively participate in Journal Club, monthly monograph testing and training of medical students and junior residents. Residents also give a wide variety of presentations including morning report, core curriculum lectures and their own senior lecture. Each resident also conducts their own research project with support and direction from FM faculty and the research department staff. The projects are presented at the Program’s annual residents’ research presentation with top projects going on to hospital-wide, regional and national meetings.
