The Research Associates Program

The Research Associates Program (RAP) provides undergraduate pre-health students at Oakland University with a structured clinical research learning experience. Students are introduced to concepts and topics in clinical research through didactic lectures and interactive experience in the emergency department at Henry Ford Hospital.

How it Works

Oakland University students enrolled in Introduction to Human Subjects Research I (BIO 4930) and Introduction to Human Subjects Research II (BIO 4932) are referred to as “Research Associates” and assist in screening and enrolling patients in the emergency department for a variety of clinical research studies. Students are able to learn to think critically about subject eligibility to participate in research studies. The students a part of RAP become an integral part to the research endeavors at Henry Ford Hospital’s Department of Emergency Medicine.
