  • Selection process is done through Central Application Service for Podiatric Residencies (CASPR) and personal interview during the Centralized Residency Interview Program (CRIP)
  • An excellent one month externship/clerkship is available to podiatry students and is strongly encouraged
  • Two residents accepted annually

The residency program covers a broad range of medical and surgical rotations including Internal Medicine, General and Vascular Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, Radiology,  Pathology, Behavioral Medicine, Infectious Disease, Orthopedic Surgery, Physical Therapy, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Podiatric office practice and, of course, Podiatric Surgery.

Residents also participate in an ongoing Journal Club program,  an on-line lecture program, various cadaver workshops,  and other local educational opportunities. 

Graduates of the Henry Ford Genesys Hospital residency are fully prepared for the Board Qualification examination by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery , and by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM)  in general podiatric practice. 

Residents also attend the ongoing lecture series sponsored by the Medical Education Department for all students, interns, residents and staff at AGH. The Podiatry service is composed of 20 podiatrists and orthopedic foot and ankle surgeons dedicated to the success of this program. The resident will be prepared to meet the challenges of the changing health care system throughout the U.S., and most particularly, the Southeastern and Mid-Michigan areas.

The hospital serves as the anchor of Genesys Health System; a group of affiliated medical campuses, outpatient centers, primary care locations and ancillary health care organizations with a continuum of care that spans from primary care to inpatient/residential hospice.
