General Surgery Residency

Henry Ford Genesys Hospital is a regionally integrated health care delivery system comprised of a complete continuum of care primarily servicing Genesee, Shiawassee, Lapeer, Oakland, Livingston and Tuscola counties. We are anchored by a 21st century inpatient facility, one of the first medical centers of its kind built both clinically and architecturally around a patient-focused care philosophy.

The 410-bed center includes a level II emergency trauma center with a cardiac rapid diagnostic center, the Heart Institute, the Family Birthing Center, and clinical expertise in neurosciences, orthopedics, geriatric services, oncology, and minimally invasive surgical procedures in almost every specialty area.

The goal of the General Surgery residency program is to provide hands-on training supported by structured education. The program is a five year residency with increasing opportunities as each postgraduate level is successfully completed. The intent is that the resident will be well qualified to handle all aspects of general surgical procedures and either enter into practice or begin specialty training at the culmination of residency.
