Supply Chain Residency Program

This is a combined PGY1/PGY2 Corporate Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (CPAL) that is run in partnership with Cencora (formerly AmerisourceBergen). Residents will learn skills preparing them to become future pharmacy leaders in either the health system or corporate pharmacy environment with specialization in pharmacy supply chain management.

PGY1 and PGY2 Corporate Pharmacy Administration and Leadership with Masters

This program is a total of 24 months with 1 position available at Henry Ford Hospital per year.

Masters Degree

Residents in this program will complete a Master of Science Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Health System Pharmacy Administration through the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy over the course of this 2 year program.

PGY1 Year

Pharmacists completing the post-graduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency experience will be competent practitioners able to provide direct patient care in a broad range of both inpatient and outpatient clinical practice settings at a level beyond that of a practitioner without postgraduate training. They will be skilled in educating other health care professionals, students, and patients, and will exemplify professionalism both in philosophy and by example. These pharmacists will also integrate their knowledge of drug delivery and patient care to ensure a medication use system that is safe, efficient, and cost effective.

Available rotations:

Residents complete a 6-week orientation rotation beginning in mid- June followed by 12 four-week rotations.

  • Design and complete a medication use evaluation
  • Design and complete a residency project
  • Present continuing education seminar to the pharmacy staff
  • Present journal clubs and other presentations to students and pharmacy staff
  • Participate in Code Blue coverage
  • Participate in leadership activities on system drug use committees
  • Participate in the pharmacy resident on-call program
  • Participate in staffing and clinical pharmacy services every third weekend
  • Participate in precepting pharmacy students
  • Attend and present at the ASHP Midyear meeting and Great Lakes Pharmacy Residency Conference
  • An optional teaching certificate program is available in collaboration with Wayne State University

Residents receive a competitive stipend and benefits including health insurance, sick and professional leave, free parking, and professional travel reimbursement.

PGY2 Year

Residents will work remotely the PGY2 year, while being physically based at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Residents will travel to Cencora headquarters and for partner meetings throughout the PGY2 year. Cencora will cover the cost of that travel.
