Henry Ford Health System, HAP Parntner with McDonald's in Detroit to Offer COVID19 Vaccines to Customers, Employees, Community
DETROIT (Aug. 23, 2021) – Henry Ford Health System’s mobile health units known as Vaccine Vans will bring new meaning to drive-through when two McDonald’s restaurants in Detroit turn their parking lots into convenient COVID-19 vaccine clinics Aug. 24 and Sept. 2.
In partnership with HAP, Michigan-based nonprofit health plan, and McDonald’s owner/operators, Tina Brundidge and Jon Campbell Sr., a mobile vaccine team from Henry Ford’s Global Health Initiative, will administer the Pfizer vaccine to anyone eligible and willing to receive a shot that protects against the virus, which has taken the lives of more than 21,300 Michigan residents and more than 628,000 Americans, sickened millions and caused countless economic losses. The vaccines are free and available to anyone age 12 & up (guardian permission required for under 18).
-
The first McDonald’s vaccine site runs from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 22081 8 Mile Road, Detroit, the location owned by Brundidge.
-
The second site will set up Thursday, Sept. 3 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at a McDonald’s owned by Campbell Sr., 21640 Grand River, Detroit.
Each vaccine comes with a ticket for a free frozen beverage. A DJ will create a party-like atmosphere and activities to attract customers, passersby and any person eligible for the vaccine, which received full approval from the Federal Drug Administration Monday.
The McDonald’s partnership builds on HAP's and Henry Ford’s continuing efforts to provide COVID19 vaccines in accessible, convenient locations in communities across metro Detroit, Southeast Michigan, Jackson and Flint
Henry Ford’s vaccine vans roll out daily before sunrise to set up vaccines sites in a different location each day. The small team has given nearly 25,000 vaccines at schools, places of worship, city halls, fairs, workplaces and numerous other locations since January. The complementary HenryFord@Work vaccine service deploys vans to workplaces across metro Detroit and beyond to vaccinate employees on site and provide COVID19 care services.
Ending the pandemic requires creativity, partnerships and connecting with people in a variety of ways, and healthcare systems, insurers, pharmacies, community organizations and others are working hard to make sure that people who want vaccines get them and that people deciding whether to vaccinate have accurate, factual information.
All of Henry Ford and HAP’s vaccine clinics whether in the community are on site at our facilities are open to walk-ins or available by appointment. More information on COvID19 vaccines, where to get them and what to know about them is at www.henryford.org and www.hap.org
