Continuing Medical Education

As one of the largest health systems in the country, Henry Ford remains at the leading edge of medical education. Our physicians are at the forefront of the latest techniques and findings, and they also share their up-to-the-minute knowledge with other physicians and health care professionals.

Henry Ford’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) program offers year-round scheduling and planning of accredited courses, seminars and meetings for our medical professionals, as well as other physicians and healthcare professionals in our region.

There are approximately 120 ongoing CME programs, such as grand rounds, mortality and morbidity conferences and journal clubs conducted weekly, monthly or quarterly throughout the year. In addition to meeting the educational needs of our senior staff attendees, these programs are an integral part of our house staff and medical student educational programs.

Henry Ford also sponsors about 60 special CME programs a year on our own campus, as well as at other sites regionally, nationally and internationally. These special programs, which address a variety of clinical and research topics and share the expertise of our medical staff, attract physicians and other health professionals from throughout the region.

The majority of our CME programs are conducted in traditional live lecture and discussion format. As we continue to grow our medical education programs, you can expect the further evolution of our CME programs. Henry Ford Health is already a leader in the implementation of the electronic medical record and a system-wide Intranet. As such, we are preparing to launch an online CME program.

ACCME accreditation

Henry Ford Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The ACCME provides oversight and accreditation for organizations which grant Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit to physicians.
