Simulation Center
Our 15,000 square foot Simulation Center is the largest in the Midwest, and houses state-of-the-art equipment designed to help our fellows strengthen their procedural skills. The simulation center houses an ICU suite, two operating rooms, an emergency department resuscitation room, and a minimally invasive procedure lab. Two classrooms are designed for didactic and debriefing sessions. Our high fidelity adult and pediatric mannequins enable us to train fellows in:
- Intubation - using traditional laryngoscopes, and video-assisted laryngoscopes
- Bronchoscopy - using fiberoptic bronchoscopes for airway examinations
- Chest tube placement
- Blakemore tube placement
- Ultrasound for bedside procedures and noninvasive hemodynamic assessment
We also use these mannequins to simulate various clinical scenarios in real-time, allowing us to assess competency in managing sepsis, cardiopulmonary arrests, and multiple modes of mechanical ventilation.
