Eligibility and Application
Eligibility
Specific NCC fellowship eligibility criteria:
- Eligible for Michigan State Medical License on the start date of the fellowship.
- Enrolled in an ACGME-accredited residency training program in the United States in Neurology, Neurosurgery, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Anesthesiology.
- We participate in the Neurocritical Care Fellowship Match (San Francisco Match). Applicants will have to go through the registration and matching process of the match. Applicants should check the SF match website for timeline and deadlines.
General Henry Ford Health eligibility criteria:
- Visa – If you require a visa for training purposes, Henry Ford Health accepts J1 visas.
- Nicotine Policy – Henry Ford Health does not hire residents and fellows who use products containing nicotine. A nicotine test will be administered as part of the pre–employment health screen. Applicants who test positive for nicotine will not be allowed to start their program. Please note that this does include Hookah as well. Applicants may be re–tested in 90 days, but programs will not be obligated to hold the position for the applicant.
- Health Screening –A health screening shall include, at a minimum: basic demographic information, drug screen (including marijuana), latex sensitivity questionnaire, color vision screen, screening for infectious disease immunity, and any other medical testing required by regulatory agencies.
- Flu Vaccine Policy – All residents and fellows at Henry Ford Health are required to receive an annual flu vaccination. This requirement may be waived with documentation of an acceptable medical or religious reason.
- ECFMG – International Medical Graduates must obtain ECFMG certification in a timely manner to ensure that you can be licensed by the state of Michigan and obtain an appropriate visa (if necessary)
- Orientation – You must be eligible to attend new House Officer Orientation.
- ACLS – You must have current certification in BLS and ACLS prior to beginning training. Henry Ford Health offers these courses prior to orientation at no charge.
- Online Modules – You must complete all orientation modules assigned through Henry Ford Health University by the assigned deadline.
- Background Check – You must have cleared the Henry Ford Health background check (including criminal background check) prior to starting.
- USMLE – You must provide documentation of passing USMLE Step 1 and USMLE Step 2 or COMLEX Level 1 and COMLEX Level 2 prior to starting the program.

Failure to comply with the above may be reported to your medical school, the NRMP and other relevant organizations, and may lead to termination of any agreements between you and Henry Ford Health.
Application
The application process starts two years prior to the start of the fellowship. The program accepts applications October 1st through January 31st and interviews are conducted January through mid-May. Due to the current health crisis, all interviews will be conducted virtually.
